I want to replace the dvd surround sound with a blu ray player?
I have a Panasonic DVD surround sound and I want to replace the player or reciever with a blu ray. I want to keep the same speakers. Is that possible.
I don’t see why not. If your DVD system doesn’t have inputs, then you may have to get a stand-alone receiver and a blu-ray player. But the prices are so low now, they’re affordable enough for most people.
Enjoy!

yes depends on how you want to use it you can buy an independent Blu Ray and plug the audio into your surround……

You cant.
Your el-cheepo Panasonic box is really 2 devices:
- A DVD player
- A low-end 5.1 amplifier
Without the amplifier – you cannot drive speakers.
This is a kit system which is not really designed to let you swap out parts. (The $299 price tag was cheep, but expandability was one of the things you gave up for the low price).
The speakers – are also sometimes 3 ohms – close to a short but designed to work with that box and only that box. It could damage other amps to hook those speakers up. (Check the speakers to see if they say 3 ohms, 4 ohms,…) Anything above 6 ohms is safe to hook up to another receiver.
