I think that having straight cable is preferred, at least in my opinion. You have less problems of frequency interference running to your surround speakers, don’t have to worry about battery, if it has that capability, or looking for a power supply outlet.
kef has a good model(UK only) , but speakers are not truly wireless, they most often need a power cord. Best bet is to go to the extra effort. Better sound will be the result
Hi, i have a daenyx lcd tv with a built in dvd player. I have my surround sound hooked up fine for the tv, however, when i play a dvd, the surround sound doesn’t work. Please help!
The TV your asking about was a low end TV sold in Canada a year or so ago. It had a serve problem and most ended up in repair shops. They were taken off the market shortly after. If your one of the lucky few that has one of these TV in working order??? Congratulation.
Next… Lets try getting some sound out of that TV when you play a DVD.
Most TV with built in DVD players well have a digital Optical output on the back. This output is there to allow you to send the digital surround (Dolby digital and or DTS) to your surround system.
Most surround system have some kind of input. Look up this info in you user’s manual.
Once you have this hooked up… Using your TV remote… Go into the Menu and find the setup for the DVD. Make sure you turn the digital output on and have it set to bitstreem and or Dolby digital. some even have a setting to turn on DTS audio.
Once this is done you need to find the input button on your surround sound system that allows you to use the digital signal. It might be DVD, Aux, or something similar
This should get you up and going.
hope this helped.
I moved into a new place and began the process of setting up my home theater system. I planned on feeding the speaker wire inside the walls, but found that was impossible (townhouse with cement walls between each one.) So now I have a pair of rear speakers on the wall (since I already punched the holes in the wall to hang them) with wire hanging to the floor. I’m looking for a system with a truly wireless set of rear speakers. The devices that they sell to make your rear speakers wireless won’t work for me because I’ll still have the wire running from that up the wall where I have them hanging. Any ideas?
You can take a look at the KEF’s wireless system that uses existing rear speakers, since you already have them. I don’t have it personally, but I heard good things from one of my friends. He recommended it. Below is the the website.

If you could,… please be precise and provide a link if possible.
I’m looking for a top of the line set of wireless headphones (price doesn’t matter) with the least amount of interference. All the ones I’ve had get "hiss" and "crackling" in them and a few have actually had telephone conversations heard on them.
Thanks
I agree with the previous person who said that you should try Infrared.
The reason you’re hearing distortion and telephone calls is because those cheaper brand headphones utilize the 900MHz and 2.4Ghz band that telephones use. Honestly, you would think that they’d have come up with a different frequency to use other than one where you KNOW that there’s going to be possible interference.
Infrared eliminates that! Completely!!
True, you have to be in the same room and in direct sight of the transmitter,…. but if you’re watching a movie or truly enjoying a song and relaxing…. you shouldn’t be wandering all over the place anyways. Right?
Try these. Not ridiculously expensive,… but a little. Judging from the reviews they’re well worth it though.
Enjoy!
i have a sony surround sound system that came with wired speakers. I want to use wireless speakers, are there any that I can buy to replace the wired speakers??
Yup … quite a few. See the link for some examples. Note however that sound quality might be compromised somewhat vs wired speakers (second link) … although the convenience may be worthwhile.
I get sound from my sony dvd player (surround sound). when playing cds or dvds but not when watching TV, any ideas?
Did you put on an HDMI cable?Check your cable box settings and make sure you have it on the correct output HDMI or optical
What Home Theater Systems have wireless rear speakers and 2 – 3 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output?
none of the wireless solutions are really practical or up to par yet.
Rocketfish makes a device, but it isn’t highly rated.
For a receiver I suggest a Onkyo SR-606
Pair it with and infinity series of speakers all the way around(they auction way under retail on ebay via the company) and you should be set.
