A package with the receiver is ideal.
There are no "good" wireless surround sound speakers currently available, if you are an audiophile. If you just want something that sounds better than your mono speaker B&W TV set, go to Circuit City and Best Buy and look around – they do have some. You don’t give any kind of budget, so it’s hard to tell what you want.
But beware, even though the "wireless" speaker doesn’t have to be connected to your AVR, it will have to be plugged into an electric outlet!
Hint – general rule for better quality is to buy AVR and speakers seperately, rather than a HTIB set up.
Our room is 16′ x 27′, but half the room has 9′ ceilings in the dining area. The area where we will use the system has a vaulted ceiling. I don’t know if this makes a difference in the suggestions, but wanted to include it just in case.
HMM HOW ABOUT THIS?

The dvd plays through all 5 speakers but the cable only plays through the tv
Please feel free to dumb it down for me. Thanks.
If your surround sound dvd player has an aux option like my rca does then hookup up your audio cable in the back of your dvd player/receiver (red and white) to your tv set (audio out) if your tv has one like my hd lcd tv does. then choose your cable option on yoru tv and hopefully this helps.
is there anyway to listen to music from my computer to my home theater system.i am running windows xp.and if there is a way please be very detailed.thank you so much!
I would have to recommend the ROKU Soundbridge. I have the M1001 that streams all my music from my computer to my outdoor stereo system. It’s very easy to hook up and it has a nice clear display that allows you to browse through all your music, set up playlists, and you can even choose internet radio stations to stream from. Here is the link:

I have a great home theatre system. I like it’s surrond sound very much. Is it possible that with a device I browse my desktop songs and play them with my receiver? What equipment/software I need to buy?
What you need is the ROKU Soundbridge. It lets you stream your music from computer to your receiver and it is very easy to setup. It has a nice big display where you can browse your tunes, create playlists, etc.
